Say What ? What’s This About Now ?
Here’s the deal. Some politicians and law enforcement people want companies like Apple, Facebook, Google, and really all tech companies, to build in backdoors in their encryption tech so they can get a search warrant from a court and get anything they want out of your devices and online services. Just Google encryption regulation.
What they are too clueless or incompetent to recognize is that ANY backdoor is NOT SAFE. They don’t do the research before they throw ALL of us under the bus. And they don’t or won’t realize that the bad guys, the intelligence agencies, the hostile governments, the hackers, the criminals, all the baddies out there, will crack the backdoor wide open. It’s an absolute certainty.
Not convinced this is crazy stupid ?
The world’s best intelligence agencies, the NSA and the CIA, who try to protect themselves against EVERYBODY including themselves, got HACKED. Have you heard of EternalBlue ? How about Shadow Brokers ? OK, ahhh… WannaCry ? If not, do some research already. You need to know. Also Google NSA hacking tools and CIA hacking tools and FBI hacks.
But to put 1 example simply – very simply: The NSA’s hacking tools codenamed EternalBlue was leaked by Shadow Brokers in 2017, and turned into WannaCry ransomware attacks, which costs the world uncountable billions, perhaps trillions, and is still being used in attacks this year.
If tech companies are forced to build back doors for regular plain old law enforcement, what do you think the chances are that THEY could keep it safe from bad actors, when the world’s best can’t ? ZIP… ZERO…
U.S. senators grilled Apple Inc and Facebook Inc executives over their encryption practices on Tuesday and threatened to regulate the technology unless the companies make encrypted user data accessible to law enforcement.
They say its about protecting us from terrorists and child abusers and baddies everywhere. Someone can only believe that if they are clueless or incompetent or both. Encryption protects everyone and everything. And yes, unfortunately baddies too. But so do safes and locks on physical doors. Should we give all our combinations and keys to the government for those too ?
But this is not plain old fashioned wiretapping or searching your property with a warrant. This is many MANY orders of magnitude more dangerous and threatening to everyone’s safety. So high of a threat to us all, that it’s difficult for even tech professionals to estimate. Surely the tech clueless politicians and law enforcement could not possibly understand it. So they should listen to those who do.
“The ‘backdoor’ access you are demanding for law enforcement would be a gift to criminals, hackers and repressive regimes,” they [WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger heads] wrote. “That is not something we are prepared to do.”
Law enforcement, as they have had to do with every new technology, will have to just do their jobs and get creative. The Constitution, it’s Amendments and our founders did not intend it to be easy for the government to violate our privacy and our rights. Our founders where trying very very hard to protect the people FROM the government. By limiting the government’s power.
And it’s not just in the US where the cluelessness is gaining ground, it’s in the UK, Australia and other “democratic” countries too.
You expect this kinda ignorance from Republicans, like this:
“You’re going to find a way to do this or we’re going to go do it for you,” said Senator Lindsey Graham. “We’re not going to live in a world where a bunch of child abusers have a safe haven to practice their craft. Period. End of discussion.”
Especially from people like the new Trumpian Lindsey, who threw out all his ethics and morals and sold his soul, with most of the rest of the Republicans.
But not from Democrats too. I did some searching and quickly found a couple of Democrats who are apparently so proud of their attack on our security and privacy that they had their staff post video clips of them on YouTube !!!! Here’s US Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat from Rhode Island.
But his would NEVVVer happen with our very own Democrat US Senator from California Dianne Feinstein !!!! She of all politicians would know better than that, ri…. ?

…Nope… Cluelessness got her too.
And I was a big fan too.
But this is too far. Especially for someone from California – home of the center of the tech known universe.

If these kind of scary attacks on our democracy’s fundamentals like privacy, and our safety, is coming from democrats, it’s time to be very very worried.
We can not afford politicians to be clueless about technology and science anymore. Encryption, climate change, cheating in elections !!! It’s all based in the same ignorance. Just manifested in different forms.

Fight for Your Security & Privacy
In 2016 the FBI went after Apple about encryption, and Apple fought back and the FBI finally caved. In 2018 it was revealed the FBI just screwed up and needed Apple to save their butts. But they didn’t reveal that and instead tried to use it as leverage to break encryption. Luckily Apple fought back – Fought for all of us.
But these politicians and law enforcement people that want to break your encryption haven’t stopped. And you have to fight back to protect yourselves.
