The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal are getting it wrong, regarding Apple’s motives of transitioning Macs from Intel processors to their own Apple Silicon. Maybe they need reporters that understand Apple.
More bad news for Microsoft on Friday, they announced they are closing ALL Microsoft Store physical locations across the globe.
Today’s Broken Windows stories from pro-Microsoft web sites report more big bugs in Windows 10.
Update after update, Microsoft just keeps breaking Windows. More proof that it was a good move, when I dumped Win-Blows for Mac. It was 10 years ago when I went Mac and never looked back.
They are on the wrong side of history. And of right now. Facebook, Trump, brutal police, racists. They are all interconnected.
UPDATED June 17 – From the “Reinforce the point dept.” Morning Joe on MSNBC goes OFF on Facebook.
This first look video of the not yet released Unreal Engine 5 on an also not yet released PlayStation 5 is AAAA-mazing !!!
Defend yourself. Protect your country. Fight for our Constitution. By taking up Obama’s call to action.
Android Central says “The cheapest iPhone has a more powerful processor than the most expensive Android phone”. Yup… the $399 iPhone SE kicks the ass of every Android phone by a mile, and then some. Including Samsung’s top of their line, Galaxy S20 Ultra starting at a whopping $1,399 !!! And shockingly, that’s not a typo. A Samsung phone that costs $1,000 more, gets creamed by Apple’s cheapest iPhone.
Embarrassing… Almost makes me wanna cry for Android.
…Nah, not really.
Apple and Google’s joint efforts to develop tech to support COVID-19 contact tracing is starting to appear. But for now it’s just APIs. To make it work, we need health systems to build support for it into apps.
Apple was founded 44 years ago today, on April 1, 1976. And it’s philosophy then, still looks a lot like the Apple we know today.
The coolest thing about the new iPad Pro isn’t the hardware, it’s the trackpad and mouse support in iPadOS 13.4. Apple announced trackpad and mouse support in iPadOS 13 – sorta. But in iPadOS 13.4 it’s now for real.
The new 2020 iPad Pro adds some cool features for sure, but it’s not the big improve that is typical. That’s actually not a bad thing.
From the “No body needs that, so please don’t” department: At CES 2020 Lenovo announced a new ThinkBook Plus with a 10.8-inch E ink display on the lid. This is a really really bad idea that is a very bad User eXperience (UX) design. This is what happens when tech companies do something just because they can, even when they shouldn’t.
Apple having an official presence at CES 2020 is the first time in decades that they have attended is huge. And for it to be about HomeKit makes it doubly huge.
As reported by Bloomberg, Apple will make a rare official appearance and an Apple executive Jane Horvath is scheduled to speak on a consumer privacy panel Jan. 7. But don’t expect any new hardware announcements.
On Dec 18 Apple announced that Amazon, Apple, Google, Zigbee Alliance and board members form working group to develop open standard for smart home devices. That should be very good for home automation by promoting open standards, and Apple’s focus in HomeKit on security, among other things, should benefit every company and customer invested in home automation.
Speaking of your security and privacy, Apple last week published its Apple Platform Security Guide that sets the standard for security good practices. I’ve just written 3 blog posts about security and privacy and noted how much better Apple is then pretty much every other tech company in the same product areas.
The 3 blog posts I just published over the last several days are:
- Your Privacy is Being Violated – YOU Are The Product
- Fight to Protect your Security & Privacy Against Clueless Politicians
- Apple Open Sources HomeKit Accessory Development Kit
Opening up HomeKit is a great step forward for Apple. HomeKit security is superior to home automation tech from Amazon, Google, Samsung, etc. But Apple needs to do more to push HomeKit forward.
Your location is being tracked right now by hundreds of apps and web sites. They are violating your privacy. Once again, proving the adage that if you are not paying for a product, then… YOU are the product. In other words, your privacy is being violated by collecting and selling your location and other personal information.
Last Tue, Dec 10, in a US Senate Judiciary Committee hearing clueless politicians once again attacked the security and privacy of every human on earth, by trying to fundamentally and fatally undermine encryption. We all must FIGHT BACK against these CLUELESS politicians that don’t understand technology.
There’s still a need for something in between Apple’s Mac mini and Mac Pro. That is not an iMac. Professionals, like me, that are professional consumers, or prosumers, still need something more than the Mac mini and very much less than the Mac Pro.
